  • Wildland PPE question???

    Greetings.

Does anybody know of a source for a full two piece set of Advance fabric wildland PPE garments? Our department has recieved a small grant (11,000) for the purchase of Wildland PPE. We realy like the Advace material (60% Kevlar, 40% Nomex) because it seems to last much longer then other materials.

It is easy to find the Advance pants, but what about brush shirts/coats in Advance material? Does anybody make these?

What about overpants made from Advance?

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Sam Thielen,

Select the item and then on the bottom of the product page click on product comparison chart... that will show you what fabrics are available for the specific product.

      Thanks for the info.

Do you (or anybody) have a review of this PPE? Have you ever used it?

We dont get to update PPE very often, so we want to make sure we get the best.

So, if anybody has any suggestions, reviews, or comments please let me know.

I am shopping for PPE for a rural Vol. department that responds to many varied types of incidents. We have a large number of wildfires (Homebase is Easter Montana, Fallon County, but we have been known to travel from time to time), and a bit of everything else. We want good wildland PPE that can double as extraction PPE.

What we are looking for is:

      - Two piece PPE. We have previously used one piece jumpsuites and hand me down green and yellows. While the jumpsuites were brandnew and had more features, the greens and yellows were still more popular because of freedom of movement and breathability. Coveralls make more and hotter work then two piece PPE.

      - Overgarment/single layer capability. We want to be able to pull this stuff over our daily wear cloaths, but if we have time to prepare, want to wear it as regular brush gear (albiet a little baggy).

      - Lots of pockets.

      - Reflective striping. The visibility factor, especialy for crash rescue at night.

      - Long service life. We dont often get new PPE.

      - Advance fabric. Long life and great protection

      - Color other then YELLOW!!! We want to have our guys stand out among the sea of yellow shirts that flood Montana every summer. I like the Navy blue or tan Advance pants, but I have yet to locate a non-yellow brush coat/shirt. Please, if anybody knows of any, post it here.

      - Zipper or velcro, no buttons, they are to easy to break/loose.

That is pretty much what we are looking for, but I have yet to find a PPE that fits this entire list.

Thank you very much for your responces and help.

Here is the PPE that I am looking at thanks to the link from mtnfireguy (thanks by the way, good find).

I emailed Barrier Wear (they rplied seconds after my prievious post) and they said that you can order specific options for these pants and that brush jackets are available in Navy or Tan.

Seems that their PPE will meet most or all of our criteria set forth.

But, if you know of other vendors, plese let me know, I have to shop around you know.

Also, if anybody has a review of Barrier Wear PPE, please post it here, It would be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks
