TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A 3-acre wildfire destroyed several
buildings and shut down a road in Summerhaven, a Coronado National
Forest Spokesperson said.
Gail Aschenbrenner, spokeswoman for the Coronado National
Forest, said the fire broke out in or near a cabin under
construction about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The blaze destroyed the cabin, two outbuildings and a travel
trailer, she said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Pima County
officials, Aschenbrenner said.
She did not know what agency the officials were from.
Crews were working on the fire Wednesday night. It was still
burning, but was not expected to spread, she said.
The Mount Lemmon Fire Department issued voluntary evacuation
notices to the residents of the Loma Linda Development, which is
where the fire broke out, Aschenbrenner said.
The highway leading up to Mount Lemmon has been closed at the
base of the mountain, Aschenbrenner said.
