  • What do you wear under you nomex?

There was a thread about socks, but I'm wondering what you all wear under your nomex shirt and trousers. It was brought up that synthetic socks were bad, and most just wear cotton socks. But does anyone wear an "Underarmor type" under shirt or wicking boxers?

Underarmor is about the last thing you should ever wear around fire...

The Code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.

      Agreed!

I used to refuse to let firemen go into the live burn evolutions I ran with any of the elastic Under Armour garments or those wind pants that break away on the sides.

Is there something better than the plain jane cotton undershirt?

cotton socks and underwear, and cotton uniform t-shirt, I typically wear my nomex brush pants as part of my duty uniform, adding only the nomex shirt and my helmet to complete my PPE

For my under my nomex shirt, just my crew T-shirt (100% cotton). My pants are the GSA issued ones, no overpant. Cotton underwear, socks, and wool boot socks as a second pair over the cottons.
