Hey all, I'm a newbie when it comes to the Wildland Firefighting scenario, and still a rookie in structural firefighting. I'm really interested in trying to get a job for a seasonal position, but just don't know much on how to get started. I applied several times through DOI and USFWS through USAJOBS but am unsure if that's really the only route, or is there a better way where I can get a better chance at getting hired. I'm very serious about this, looking for the experience, and who knows, maybe I'll like wildland better than structural firefighting. Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to get my foot in the door. Thanks in advance.

And like any other job, the more they know you, and like you, the better your chances of getting hired. So call, chat, stop by, run or hike with, anyone especially those in charge, you can that is where you want to work.
