G'day,
I'm a retired Auckland, New Zealand firefighter. (27 yrs, Station Officer - I think your equivalent rank is Lieutenant)
Thought maybe if some of you are into hiking, the outdoors or interested in a Kiwi's view of the US and its wilderness then you might be interested in this book of mine..."Dances With Marmots"
Before retiring I took 'leave of absence' from the Fire Dept., travelled to the States and hiked 2650 miles from Mexico to Canada along the Pacific Crest Trail, up through the desert areas and High Sierra Nevada of California and the Cascade range of Oregon and Washington, ending up in the Okanogan Forest of BC., Canada. Took me five months and was a great experience!
Anyhow, if interested, there's more info' over at Dances With Marmots
(also posted this over on the 'Fire Buff' forum before spotting 'Off duty', so hope that's ok!)
Cheers, George
