  • A show of hands.....

Calling all nerds, geeks, and other fans of 80's cartoons. I was at the movies this weekend, and saw the best preview I saw in a long time. I almost messed my pants, jumped out of my seat, and was in a general state of happiness. I was hoping to see a show of hands in here to see who else is as exited as me, or if I am alone in my pathetic state of "6-year old" happiness.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts the official site. In theatres June 09 2023 brought to you by Paramount Pictures.

      Well,

At least you're not as geeky as this guy...

National guardsman changed his name to a toy

CUYAHOGA FALLS -- A member of Ohio's 5694th National Guard Unit in Mansfield legally changed his name to a Transformers toy.

Optimus Prime is heading out to the Middle East with his guard unit on Wednesday to provide fire protection for airfields under combat.

"On Sunday, we were announced as the best firefighting unit in the Army National Guard in the entire country," said Prime. "That was a big moment for us."

Prime took his name from the leader of the Autobots Transformers, which were popular toys and a children's cartoon in the 1980s.

He legally changed his name on his 30th birthday and now it's on everything from his driver's license, to his military ID, to his uniform.

"They razzed me for three months to no end," said Prime. "They really dug into me about it."

Prime says the toy actually filled a void in his life when it came out.

"My dad passed away the year before and I didn't have anybody really around, so I really latched onto him when I was a kid," he said.

      (and he's a firefighter too!)

My husband is extremely excited about this movie, although being a girl I can't see what's so exciting :P However, if they ever come out with a CareBears or Rainbow Sprite movie....

I knew a guy changed his name during a Med cruise back in 85 because guys in his frigate were always saying to him"Look, land, see?" so he went and changed the paperwork so he'd be "Darrel Landsee" which is how he is listed to this very day in the phone book.
He talks like Jeff Foxworthy which must be reassuring as all get out to his neurology patients.

Anyway, wake me up when "Star Blazers"is made into a movie.Capt Wildstar and the bunch kept me entertained on snow days when I was a kid just getting cable.

A couple of years ago I searched on Kazaa for Star Blazers and found nearly the entire run of the cartoon in mpg format. There are a couple of episodes I'm missing, but they're out there somewhere, and I'll get them someday.

I think I sold my Transformers at a garage sale. I saw someone selling a Megatron in an unopened box on eBay the other week for almost $300 as a starting bid. I don't miss them that much.

Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry!

In my opinion, the best cartoons ever are Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry.

I used to work with a fella about 10 yrs ago who drew cartoons. His specialty was super heros. He would come over to my desk (I then worked at American Express) and show me the drawings. The best part was when he would mimic the cartoon characters. He was a regular Robin Williams.

My favorite was Bugs with the Irish Cops and Italian Robbers!

I will admit I enjoy listening to them while my daughter watches!

As matter of fact I was thinking about 3 cartoons that were my favorite from Tom and Jerry. They were all good, so I couldn't just name one, ya know! : )

That one is hilarious and so is the one with the zuit suit. Don't know if I spelled that right. The one with the yellow suits like in the movie with Jim Carry in Mask.

"Is you is, or is you ain't my baby" One of the few either one of them talks in, definitely high on the favorite list.

                            C-c-c-c-c-rambone is another one.

I always wondered about that. How come his Uncle talks but not Jerry? Enquiring minds want to know.

I found an audio file on the internet somewhere of Uncle Pecos singing the Crambone song and downloaded it. I made it one of the ringtones for my phone!!
