Just the thought of John Cleese tormenting the German tourists makes me chuckle.

      Edited to include this:

: : : "The Germans" episode of Fawlty Towers starring John Cleese. Cleese the hotel manager has been in hospital with concussion - he discharges himself and returns to the hotel. a group of Germans have come to stay and in his confusion, he keeps mentioning the war (mainly WWII).

: : : Basil Fawlty says to Polly in conspiritorial toens "Don't mention the war. I did it once but I think I got away with it" (which he delivers to his off-screen wife Connie Booth who plays the chambermaid who in effect runs the hotel)

: : : He returns to the dining room and the older German says "Please stop mentioning the war, you're upsetting the girl" (who is in tears)

: : : Fawlty says "You started it" and then the rebuff "No we didn't" from the German triggers the line

      : : : wait for it

: : : "Yes you did - you invaded Poland" (cheers and applause!!!!)

          • I was vacationing in Mexico last winter. We went to one of those eco parks.

When we were ready to leave, we had to climb up a slippery ladder out of the water and onto some rocks.. I swam to the ladder and was helping the ladies of our group off the ladder. A French couple were also climbing out of the water at the same time. I don't speak much french, but I heard the man say something about James Bond, and then something about Mr. Bean and he and his wife laughed and walked away.

It wasn't until several hours later that I figured out what he had said. "This guy thinks he is James Bond. He's more like Mr. Bean". How Rude!!!

If I had put two and two together while I was standing there, I'd have given him a wedge-ee.

Yep...Mr. Bean is great! In the 90s, I used to give briefings to the NATO School and during the breaks they'd throw Bean on. I'd never heard of him at that time and it was hilarious...we were in stitches. I actually looked forward to going to the briefings because I knew I'd get to see Mr. Bean! It was also a good ice-breaker for the group since not everyone spoke English.

Yes, I have a couple of his videos too. The one that I really enjoyed as a kid was Dave Allen (Irish) He used to do skits and a sit down act. But they dont seem to carry vids of him here in NA.

                      • British Comedy!

Favorite Mr. Bean......When he paints his room by sticking the giant firecracker in the can of paint.

Monty Python.....I love the skit with the singing lumberjacks.
and the one where the guy invites himself into the chaps apartment and takes over with the party.

All time favorite has to be Rowan Atkinson live when he plays the skit as the devil............."and the French, are you here?"
