Yeah..they realized that the car was so crappy the FD's where they sent it as a VX unit were cutting it up... then they had no place to put the tools afterwards!

    • I never had a Gremlin or a Pacer but I did own a few AMC products. I had a Sportabout, an Ambasador and a Rambler Coup.

The weight of the Hurst tools in those days probably would have bottomed out the suspension..

They did seem to have a lot of spreading pressure though.. I remember lifting a flatbed load of 4" drill stem off the front of a truck with them.

                • Harve... thanks to the upgrade of the Forums by our friendly neighborhood WebTeam, I can now color match the color of the text to colors of my vehicles!

I am torn about my next vehicle. The Jeep's last payment is September, and it's my turn to get a new car. I am keeping my F150, as it's paid for and in excellent conditon.

My next car is going to be a "toy" to be on the road from spring until late October. It's either going to be a 2005/2006 Mustang GT convertible, or a sports sedan, ala BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C class, Audi A4, Acura TL, Lexus ES 330 or Infiniti G35.

                      • One More

                        I almost forgot.

I had a late 80's Volkswagon Jetta Carat.

I pulled into the garage one night, opened the hood to check the oil. When filling it, the oil splashed on the valve cover and ran down onto the still smokin' hot exaust manifold. I pushed it into the driveway before running for a fire extinguisher. There was no WAY I was going to have the FD respond to my house.

It started right back up despite everything being covered in dry chem... I think I got another 18 months out of it after that..

It eventually gave its life to vehicle extrication training.

                              • But that's what you get to drive when you're the youngest of eight.
Im the youngest of nine and i was given a VL commodore and i am getting a mitsubishi Magna (2000) at the beginning of next year.

                                VL commodore

                                Magna

Note: These are not the real cars, they are just an indicator for all you yanks. My VL looks just like the one there, but the magna is really green.

For all the life of me, i cant see a firefighter going to hell. At least not for very long. We would end up putting out all the fires and annoying the devil too much.
