ps. Rick- I am betting you will hit 9K posts before the end of July. I am guessing July 15. I need to know what this is before then so I can make sure you are properly rewarded for your actions.

      • Thanks. I've never read those books. I thought maybe you were having a bit of fun and trying to confuse me more than I already am. Although, I have found, it is much easier to get through life, if one remains in a semi-static state of confusion. At the very least, it confuses other people.

Can I have that translated into English please?

Hitchhikers started life as a radio series. Broadcast live of course! Does anyone here remember Slartibartfast's original name?

Poor Cheffie - most people I know think that the mechanics of breathing are enough to confuse me...

And although it's a GOOD answer, the answer to my question is not "42"...

First answer is correct! You win the prize! Oh, wait. Sorry, I didn't offer a prize, did I?

The original radio scripts, with comments from the author, were quite a good read

                    • Too bad they made such a mess of the movie. It could have been quite good.

I remember the radio program (broadcast on NPR stateside). I had to run out and get the book immediately.

                      • I have a copy of the original BBC movie production. For a BBC product, and the fact that they had the apparent budget of an old Dr Who.... they did pretty good.

It is most certainly A LOT BETTER than the later 200(?) American production, which has all American actors, rather than the required British folks.

                        • Did anyone else ever try the very early PC based Hitchhikers game? A text question and answer thingy? Back in '89 I think. I failed dismally...
