Nice try, but it won't die that easily.

If you'll excuse the hijacking (could one possibly hijack this thread?) I need to make an important Unofficial Thread Killer Book Club announcement.

For those of us interested in military history, and modern military history in particular, Rick Atkinson's book "In the Company of Soldiers : A Chronicle of Combat" has some new relevence and might be worth your time.

Atkinson spends a great deal of time with General David Petraeus, who was recently put in charge of the Iraq war/occupation. If you're following current events, this gives some good insight into what kind of man he is (plot synopsis: good for us, not so good for the bad guys). The book is a good but perhaps not great read. It is also in Amazon's bargain bin for about $8.00 in hardback.

We now return you to your irregularly unscheduled comatose thread.

The beer turned out to be a lot more succesful than they anticipated.

The 1920's and prohibition.Yeah, corn liquor. Like all good traditions it is still here,(pun intended),and some old abandoned cookers can be found to this day up in the hills around here. By the way thats how Nascar got started.Sounds like Toohey's might be a good stock tip too.

                        • Subject: blonde waitress

A trucker came into a truck stop cafe and placed his order. He said, "I want three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards."

The brand new blonde waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, went to the kitchen and said to the cook, "This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards. What does he think this place is, an auto parts store?"

"No," the cook said. "Three flat tires mean three pancakes, a pair of headlights is two eggs sunny side up, and running boards are 2 slices of crisp bacon."

"Oh, OK!" said the blonde. She thought about it for a moment and then spooned up a bowl of beans and gave it to the customer.

The trucker asked, "What are the beans for Blondie?

She replied, "I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might as well gas up!

FOR ONCE THE BLONDE GETS EVEN!

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Virginia State Police are looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer who fled after the vehicle overturned and spilled 165,000 eggs all over the Capital Beltway.

The wreck happened about 2 a.m. Saturday on the Inner Loop near Interstate 66. Police said it appeared the truck struck the guardrail and flipped. The truck driver took off before troopers arrived, according to police.

Michael Karbonski, a safety patrol officer with Virginia Department of Transportation, said it took cleaning crews 11 hours to sop up the mess before the Beltway and the ramp to I-66 could be reopened.

Crews used about 250 pounds of kitty litter to absorb the eggs, then swept the mess into Dumpsters.

Karbonski said it looked like a large omelet on the road.
