Well it's Friday the 13th, nothing too crazy yet. I figure all h$ll will break loose around 22:00.
"In general terms, firefighting isn't always about putting the fire out; its about making sure anything else doesn't catch on fire. What's burned is burned. Once you understand this, your tunnel vision is replaced by effective strategy."
I made it back from Houston with a small hangover..... Jmitchell. I was working just off the hardy toll road near Berry Rd. Loved the sound of the Q on your trucks as they went to calls. They basically just stood on the thing when they were on surface streets. Like music to my ears.
22:00 last night we get a call for a grass fire.. which is odd, because there is snow on the ground. We pick our way through the ice fog to find a field about 155 acres full of large round straw bales. Not nicely stacked in one place, but spread across the whole field. All of them burning. The landowner didn't want to collect them, so he thought he'd just burn them.... Our county has a zero tollerance for burns without permits so we kept warm by pulling the bales apart and soaking them down... for about 4 hours... Tempurature was in the teens (F).... Pressure gauges frozen, hose frozen. Our drinking water was nice and cold..
Our neighbouring department got called to a 2 semi head on while we were playing with our bales, and as we listened, the police reported 3 more cars were added to the mix before they got the road shut down.

Those 8 pints haven’t worn off yet?
Ah yes the sweet sounds of the Q echoing through the night, though some people tend to get a little trigger happy with them.
I hope you had a good time down here. How did you like our magical weather? Hot, Chilly, Hot, Hot, Humid, Chilly, Warm. <~~that would be within 2 days. At least it's better than the teens.

Surely, the rest of the day will be quiet.
Just a typical day in Alberta
September 11th - Never Forget
I respect firefighters and emergency workers worldwide. Thank you for what you do.

Weather was awesome. Like a summer day in Calgary. Cool in the morning, warm in the afternoon. Still managed to get a sunburn.
Icecream: Chocolate of course... why mess with perfection.
How about potato chip flavors...
My personal favorite is dill pickle... followed closely by ketchup.
Sour cream and onion are pretty good but my favorite has to be jalapeno chips. Brand does make a difference though.

I forgot about socks.
But I have to say without hesitation that my feet are their happiest when I'm wearing Golden Toe.
How about wrist watches?
I have a Seiko for dressy occasions and I have a Harley Davidson made by Bulova for daily wear. Both have been very good time pieces for me.

Watch: Everyday (nice dress watch) Citizen Eco-drive titanium chrono. ( I won the money for this in the casino during my last vacation)
Everyday ( duty style watch) Timex ironman digital , or Expedition analog/digital, depending upon which bag I have with me.
Jeans : Right now it is a toss-up between Carhart carpenter style jeans, and the Lee Dungarees. There is something wrong with my washer & Dryer, my jeans keep shrinking.... Hey wait a minute....?
