Hoods
hey this sort of off duty but sort of not. What hood do you prefer. Ventilated vs. Non Ventilated. What materials, pbi vs. nomex?

I don't think the ventilated hoods really make a difference. Simply because you have a helmet on your head anyway keeping heat in. Therefore I just prefer to wear the "non ventilated" hood, if I wear one at all. -
One of those new befangled carbon hoods and sometimes a Reed Hood, it just depends on what info is given by dispatch weather or not the Reed goes on.Proud member of the IACOJ

Preferences for materials:
1) Carbon
2) Nomex
3) PBI

I use the P84 Hood. It is a combination of Nomex and Kevlar, non vented and is the only hood I have found in 33 years that retains it's elasticity around the face for more than a year. It is an awesome hood.09-11 .. 343 "All Gave Some..Some Gave ALL" God Bless..R.I.P.

I use a black carbon nonvented hood and have never had any problems wont change for the world.
