  • Anyone else remember "CODE RED"?

It was a FD show from the 70's. Lorene Green (sp?) was the chief, and he had a couple of sons who were in the FD too. It's funny too because they were all at the same house... of course LOL. They were LAFD. One flew a chopper, and the other was on either the engine or truck. Plus, the youngest son was an explorer or Jr. firefighter or something. He would ride his bike to the calls and keep the crowd back LOL. I always thought, "hmmmm funny how he's always around when theres a fire". Anyway, I was just wondering how many folks remembered it. Last time I saw it on was back in the early 90's.... and that was once a week at about 1:00am. I'd like to see some of those old shows to see how "corny" they are today.

              Sounds like he has one!

Lorne Greene as a B/C! That's a hoot! Bonanza in a firehouse... "Hoss, I'm a gonna take the Rescue down to the shop to get 'er re-shoed."

Or maybe it was more like Battlestar Galactica in a firehouse... "Dispatch, our ETA is 5 Centons."

I do remember that show vaugely. I was a big Emergency fan in those gradeschool days, and I think Code Red lost my interest pretty quickly because it had too much "soap opera" stuff in the story lines. I wanted firehouse practical jokes and cliff rescues!!

              Fire service survival tips:
              1) Cook at 350...
              2) Pump at 150...
              3) When in doubt, isolate and deny entry...
              4) When in trouble, claim lack of adult supervision.

I remember that one. I was relatively young but watched it regularly. I will agree with the soap opera comment though. It certainly didn't leave the same impression that Emergency did.

I feel the same about Third Watch. You have to watch six episodes to get one good action show.

                        Yup, I remember that one....

But be careful with the Hoss jokes.....that's what they call me around my house.

I also agree with the soap opera stuff.

And with the upcoming move to Friday nights I kind of think NBC is giving up on Third Watch. They already pretty much wrote off the Firefighters and the Paramedics, probably because those fire scenes are too expensive. So it's pretty much just another cop show now. Kind of like Emergency in reverse. Wasn't there an early link between Adam-12 and Emergency?

They were both Mark VII productions...with "Emergency" being a spin off of "Adam-12." In the pilot of "Emergency'" there was a cameo appearance of Martin Milner and Kent McCord playing their characters from Adam 12.

                          "One Adam 12....see the woman.........."

Oh that dispatcher's voice....who was that lady?

Her name is Shaaron Claridge, a real LAPD dispatcher who made extra money dispatching on "Adam-12". Her husband was a real LAPD officer.

I'm actually sitting here watching a feed from KABC's copter, over the fires in southern California.

Words escape me.... So many acres, so few firefighters. What would Gage and DeSoto do?
