ATLANTA -- The new Brawny man is dark haired, dimpled and clean shaven -- a big upgrade for the macho cleanup guy.
Paper towel maker Georgia-Pacific announced the new model for the paper towel rolls Thursday to replace the old mustachioed lumberjack.
The Brawny man lost the blonde hair and the mustache. He regained his rugged flannel shirt, which was replaced with a blue denim one three years ago.
The company said the new Brawny man accompanies other improvements to the towel, including absorbency, strength, softness and thickness. The towels are being rolled out in stores from now through the end of the year.
The new Brawny man is based on Mario Cantacessi, a Los Angeles County firefighter who beat out more than 4,000 others in the company's "Do you know the Brawny man" contest.
