Kansas is a State with much history. In this paper you will learn more about the State of Kansas such as the States Government, The largest and smallest Cities, Major Industries, past and present populations, and Agriculture within the Great State of Kansas.

Being the thirty-fourth state in a total of fifty, Kansas tops the charts in the year 2000 with 2,688,418 people. Every ten years the Census gives the amount of people living in each state. In the year of 1960 Kansas had 2,178,611 people, and in the year of 1900 there was a total f 1,470,495. As you can see each year the totals get bigger. Being born on January 29th of the year of 1861 Kansas within ninety-nine years they had an enormous amount of people, even being a state so young.

Agriculture is a big industry in the state. The three main crops raised in Kansas are Wheat, Corn, and grain sorgum. Corn is the biggest crop with ten million acres being raised. Sorgum and corn are on the charts at both with three and a half million acres being currently raised throughout the areas. Some of the states major products include Aircraft Manufacturing, Agriculture, And Education, Which is all being done within 82,282 square miles with approximately 32.9 people residing each square mile.

Governing the state of Kansas currently is Kathleen Sebelius. She is responsible for governing the whole state, which includes Topeka, which is the capitol, and large cities such as Wichita, Kansas City, Overland Park, And Topeka. Kathleen has been the governor since 2000. She is currently the 44th governor of the state. She had once been in the House of Representatives from 1987 to 1994. After serving that position she went off to be an Insurance Commissioner.

The current members of the U.S. Representatives from Kansas are Dennis Moore, Jerry Moran, Jim Ryun, and Todd Tiahrt, and all are Republicans except for Dennis Moore, which is a Democrat. As each of the 50 states in the United States Kansas adopted its own Constitution for the state, it has the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches. The Constitution symbolizes the U.S. Constitution.

The State motto for Kansas is “As Astra Per Aspera” which is Latin for “To the stars through difficult.” The State Tree is Cottonwood, which has been so since 1937. The State Flower is the Sunflower; some unofficial nicknames for the state are the Wheat State, And the Jayhawker State. The lowest point is the Verdigris River in Southeast Kansas, which is 680 feet. The highest point is Mount Sunflower, which stands tall at 4,039 feet.

Nicknamed the “Sunflower State” Kansas has much history behind it, Hopefully you have learned more about this state. As the years go by so will the numbers in population. People will come and people will go, as will governmental positions within the state which may bring many changes in the upcoming years, Some may be good and some may be bad, What ever it is Kansas will be there.

    Backdraft,
I'm not real good wit the gramer eter, so I use microsoft word with the grammar and spell check turned on. When you are done highlight the whole page, go to edit, hit copy. Open your post subject box, put the curser in the box, hit edit, paste and you are done. It won't help you with words that can have more than one meaning, so you have to watch that. It is a lot easier than going to the dictionary every other word. Good luck!

Sounds OK to me but that wouldn't make me feel much better! It is hard to make some fact based information sound interesting. It looks like you covered what you wanted to cover, there are capitals where they don't need to be but not knowing what your plans are for it should be fine.

If you are using Microsoft Word...click on Tools, then select Spelling and Grammar. The program will make suggestions on sentence structure, while also correcting spelling and punctuation.

Ryan, I looked over your paper and I have emailed you. I highlighted some areas in Word and it wouldn't show up properly here. So I've sent to you as an attachment. I hope it helps.
