Not true. There is one in the city that you live in, at the corners of Cranston, Atwood and Oaklawn.

          round about

Hi I am from Salem In. There is one big circle that runs around their court house. It is weird how people from out of town can't get through it. We have learned to weave in and out just like a maze. There is four streets that lead into this one road. It is different by no means. The fire and rescue get respect there so there is no problem when they go through town. All of the four roads leading into is has to stop and wait till all is clear.

Lutan: Walls! Except that one, its a ceiling.

At least this vision is better than that one of Yoko.

                  intersection

I just remember back in the 70's Kingsport TN had a circle and it was so neat. I can remember my dad driving through without any problem, but it was rare that you went through the circle without someone hitting someone else. If you ever get a chance to go through one and are not use to it. Try it, it is wild, or if you have one in your town and something big is happening just go sit and watch how the out of towners drive through them. It is a good laugh most of the time. Ha ha, no one gets badly hurt due to speed but it is something to watch.

Yup we have them there roundabout thingies down here.

                      REALLY SIMPLE.

We drive on the left, with right hand drive vehicles.

Give way to any vehicle approaching from your right, turn left and go around until you can exit at the road you want. one of our better Auckland one has two lanes around it and six feeder roads.

They do tend to be faster than traffice lights for dealing with multiple intersections.

When combined with distinct lanes for exits and one way streets, they also provide hours of entertainment watching tourists disapear is a shower of road maps and frustration.

There's one in the middle of Hartford...but nothing like up in good ol' Mass

Actually Dal, now that I think of it...at Polaski Circle (the rotary in Hartford), the cars entering the rotary have yields and stop signs, depending on which road you are on...either that or they are all stop signs (it's been a while since I've been there) so in that particular case, the rotary has the right of.

There's something whacky about the one in Stafford...trying to remember what it was...it either had to do with turning or that the direction of travel was opposite of what it normally would be.

Also from the files of the non-Euclidian school of traffic engineering, McKenzie, TN used to have a street named Triangle Circle.

From my experiences overseas, on the "Island of Love" - Cyprus, these roundabouts are usually quite easy to get around in, once you figure the sequence out. Which is great when you are operating a right hand drive vehicle in a right hand world. However, add to the mixture a North American LEFT HAND drive vehicle in a right hand world. NOW THAT'S WHEN THE FUN BEGINS LOL It gets better when your crew commander is also a driver/examiner... "OOOOOOPPPPPSSSSSSSSS Sorry W.O., its these danged right handers... they get me every time."

I've been bashed by a pace stick on more than one or two occasions because of that.
