  • PA-Windham Township Volunteer Fire Company seeks injunction

TOWANDA, Pa. (AP) - A judge said it would be at least two weeks
before he rules on a request for an injunction that would prohibit
a township from funding its newly formed fire company.
Bradford County Judge John Mott said Tuesday he would give
attorneys from both sides 14 days to submit additional briefs in
    the case.
The Windham Township Volunteer Fire Company, which has existed
since 1969, brought the injunction, saying the township acted
illegally when it created its own fire company and that creating
the new company would effectively destroy the existing company.
The township supervisors voted 2-0 in March to create the new
department, with Ed Kaminski, who is both a firefighter and a
    supervisor, abstaining from the vote.
That vote came exactly one month after the Windham Township
Volunteer Fire Company withdrew from the township, moving their
trucks to a neighboring township, because of a long-standing feud
    with the supervisors.
