Ahhh, now I can see it better, haha. The ole eyes just aren't what they used to be, all I could really make out was a black nose and eyes on a face.Comment

lol.....it is a Devil.....I think the black is from people touching it...
Anyway - story behind this - I took the Albany (NY) FD on tours of a construction site at the NYS Capitol this past week - aside from the work area, one of the things that was of significant interest to the attendees was seeing the Devil...lol....thankfully I had tagged along onthe tail end of a tour not long ago and knew where to find him!
One of the stories behind this is that one of the carvers (all the stonework is hand carved!) for some reason or another wanted to put a curse on the building.....another is that someone was just having fun.....Comment
