  • Good Morning - It's a Good Day to be a Republican!

    We take the house.

We take the majority of the Governor's races.

We turn state legislatures that haven't been Republican since the 1800's.

The Senate would have been nice, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

Now it's our turn to make change happen. Thank God.

Here is my predictions, just from watching the last 10 years of politics:

We will not do very much, and a newly GOP controlled house will blame the previous Democrat controlled house and the mess inherited from 2 years of Obama as the reason.

Despite all the rhetoric, health care reform will not get repealed. Even the hardcore Republicans in office will realize that you cannot get reelected on a platform of "I took health insurance coverage away from people with preexisting conditions and 25 year olds".

Domestic surveillance will continue to expand.

In 2 years there will be another shift back to the Democratic side.

In 20 years people may finally realize that the two parties are more alike than they are different and we don't really have any choice at all. Democracy in the US is a farce.

          Good point.

          Remember the "Contract with America"?
Remember bulletproof George H.W. Bush sweeping Kuwait of Saddam...and then getting voted out over the economy?

The American political system is all Janet Jackson: What have you done for me lately? Whoever is in charge gets voted out when things get bad, and if they fail to improve the problems that got them in, they get voted out too.

The Tea Party is flavor of the month right now, and if they can't improve the things they've railed against during the campaign, they'll be old news in 2012.

When a shift in power occurs like this, the only way to prevent another one in two years is if they actually DO SOMETHING with the power...

          ...and they rarely do.

Heck, and every time either party does manage to fix something, they just screw up something else in the process.

Departments should get the funding they need, from the people they serve.

                  The sun is shining today!

I love how Obama and Co. are NOW talking about "working together" and "bipartisanship"....

"We" being those of your leftist obamarxist bent.

Perhaps our resident socialists can explain how a state elects Jerry Brown (AGAIN), Babba Boxer, and Pelosi and against legalizing pot. They majority were obvoiusly inhaling at the polls perhaps they didn't understand the question.

The Republican party didn't do diddly squat. Rove and his ilk are still yapping.

10th post, and the name calling begins.

And for the record, I spoke of "we" as in "we Americans".

No wonder we can't get anything done, irregardless of who is in power. We are to busy fighting each other.

An awfully naïve post. The weird thing is, is that up until January the state and city that I live in are all Democrat controlled.
My department has been cut to the tune of five fire companies and nearly two hundred line positions, under democratic leadership. The same leadership has also enacted fiscal policies that are DRIVING, not pushing business and tax base away from this state.

Sorry, sing the song somewhere else.

Absolutely. I am not anti-tax, as I very much enjoy the quality of life in this country, and that takes money to support. However, until firefighting becomes a national issue (not including the DOD fire service) we need to redirect our tax money to the local level, rather than the Federal level.
I would not mind at all paying more local taxes in exchange for fewer Federal taxation.

Hopefully this has been a huge wake up call for all politicians. It was only two years ago that there was sweeping “change” to knock the Republicans out of office. If these politicians haven’t learned, there will once again be sweeping change in 2012.
I would like to think that the American voter has decided to become smarter and throw those out of office who don’t listen to them.
Time will tell, but that is what I would like to think came out of all of this.

                              Heck, it's a regular 4-way-free-for-all

The ueber-leftwing Democrats are fighting with the moderate Democrats.

The Tea-Party GOP is fighting with the traditional GOP.

And while both parties are busy in-fighting they fling poo at each other.

It's like a zoo in DC and in State Capitols across the nation.
