I see a lot of rookies who are coming into the service now with no sense of history. And regrettably there are a bunch of folks who have been around a while who are not much better.
What I need are links to good web sites which contain historical information about the fire service. A list of texts and authors would also help. I am especially looking for info on: the meaning of fire dept symbols, emblems, and the historical origins of terms and practices, as well as info about the rank structure of the fire service (how it evolved). However I need just about everything else as well.
Lets see if we can connect the kids to their past!
