  • Thoughts from other "The Simpsons" fans

I am a long-time fan of "The Simpsons" animated series, and have always enjoyed the satire and how the writers have spread the wealth on poking fun at all groups and persons equally. However I was somewhat disturbed the episode shown last night ( 11/12), the one in which Homer enters the Army to prevent Bart from having to fufill an obligation to two dishonest recruiters. I respect the right of the show to poke fun at the Army, but some of the themes in the episode seemed disrespectful to me seeing how the episode was being aired on Veteran's Day weekend. My wife also had the same impression ( I'm a vet, she's not). Thoughts from other Simpson's fans? Am I being too thin-skinned?

I've been a fan of the Simpson's ever since they were featured on the Tracy Ullman Show 20 years ago. Last nights episode was very disrespectful to the military. Now I am one that enjoys satire, but last night was totally inappropriate and not even close to being funny.

See, the Dem's take control, and already the place is falling apart.

I saw it and was a little surprised that it was so tasteless. I found myself thinking that this belongs on "Family Guy" not the Simpsons. There were a couple of FG style pointless jokes with no bearing on the plot, and the gay and FMJ jokes couldn't be any older or more tired.

I really think the writer's phoned that one in.

That was last week, Marty. I didn't watch it but I remember seeing the commercials for it.

The Simpsons are equal opportunity offenders. If they checked the calendar before every subject they ever messed with the show would be boring.

I was disappointed in the episode. Usually the Simpsons is a little more subtle in its real-world analogies. As was said, this time the humor was on the same level as Family Guy or South Park.
