  • Zetron fire station alerting problem

My agency is migrating from an older Zetron Model 6/26 to a new IP based FSA. We seem to be encountering a new issue: the PA is getting turned off prematurely during a tapout. By simple example: a station has an engine and a truck. The engine is returning from a run (AOR), and the truck is home (AIQ). If both rigs are dispatched to a call, the engine hears the dispatch on the radio, the truck hears it on the station PA. If the engine hits their Enroute/Responding key on their MDC, CAD sends the status update to the Zetron and the Zetron turns off the station PA, during the voice-out to the truck still at home cutting off the rest of the transmission.

This didn't seem to be an issue on the existing Zetron 6/26 after over 12 years of use. Has anyone else seen this type of behaviour with their Zetron setup? Thanks in advance.

Is your zetron on the same network as your PC?

Not really fixing your Zetron issue, but...

Maybe engine crew could be trained to NOT hit their Enroute/Responding key until end of transmission.

Yes, they are on the same network, but I can't imagine that's part of the problem.
