Anyone using Relm VHF analog radios? Portables or mobiles. Comments?

Have Fire Grant coming and looking at possible alternative venders.

What type do you need to purchase. Digital or analog?
We have switched over to TAIT since 2007 and have been very happy with them. Top quality equipment and excellent pricing. Waterproof/ submersible to 2 meters.

In the past we had Kenwood , GE, motorola, Relm , maxon & bendix king.
    Some good , some bad.

I've got an RPV599A that I use as a spare/second radio. I don't think they even make it any more, but for what it's worth I wouldn't recommend it is a primary fireground radio due to the crappy speaker/mic connection (audio plug type) and the channel knob that's a little too easy to turn. Other than that it's pretty solid, dropped it more than a few times with no ill effects.

Relm and Bendix King are now the same company. Any Relm/BK radios that come from the Bendix King lineage should be pretty bulletproof. The Relm line of radios I'd be a little more cautious about, but they may be ok.

As for other brands, we've had good luck buying Icom radios from their GSA program, which offers very steep discounts to government agencies. We have a bunch of IC-F70 VHF analog radios that I've been pretty happy with so far.

Really???? They make toy walkie-talkies and radios for parking attendants.
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

That's the input what I'm looking for as I had not heard of them.

TAIT - I have not seen in my area but will investigate.

We see lots of Kenwood and Vertex portables. Some ICOM
