  • Digital Voice Recorder

Any of you have a digital voice recorder connected to your radios? Our fireground frequencies are not centrally monitored or recorded so we're looking for a way to record them 'on the cheep'.

Looking for a stand-alone digital voice recorder that stores around 8 hours of audio, supports VOX, and also has an auto-rollover so it will simply store the last 8 hours and automatically erase the older files.

    Any thoughts?

We were looking at that a few years ago for the same reason. I found some through internet searches that can be wired in or stand alone in the back of the command vehicle.

Yeah.. i could pick up a simple voice recorder and tie it into the Line Out of the radio. But the ones I've been able to find outline simply store a certain number of hours before they fill up and have to be manually deleted.

I was hoping there was something out there that would just buffer the audio and then automatically erase the oldest stuff as it fills up.

I'm trying to make it idiot^d^d^dBattalion Chief proof. So they don't have to remember to hit "Record" and don't have to remember to clean it out.. something that would just buffer the data and erase if it's not needed.

Our fireground radio plan got scrapped so we stopped looking. Making it "chief" proof (me at the time) was also a major concern.
