  • Tiburon MobileCom & Windows 7

Anyone out there sucessfully running MobileCom on Windows 7? We would like to quit ordering new computers with XP if we can, but since Tiburon does not officially support Windows 7 yet, we are getting some pushback from our IT dept.

If your department is running MobileCom with Windows 7, please send me a message or post here.

    Thanks,

    Mike Linkins

Thanks shawnvfd, but that really does not help unless you know the timeframe for when MobileCom will be Windows 7 compliant. In short, we are going to run MobileCom with Windows 7 and I am interested in knowing if anyone has had problems doing so.

I was just posting a response I got from the company when I asked the same question to them. (pretty much gave me a vague answer).

are you able to install the software on a win 7 system to test or is the software key/license dependent?

if you have installed it on a win 7 machine you could try right clicking on the icon and set it to run in xp mode. (most of the time this works on other programs that dont like win7)

Sorry, it sounded like you worked for them. Yes, there are a few Win7 machinces running MobileCom. I think they are running it under normal conditions, but I'll have to double check. I heard there was some problems with the port setting for the GPS unit, but it sounds like that was resolved.

I see how you would have thought that. I Guess next time ill post the entire email .
I new to the FF world. What does the mobilecom do? is it worth getting or is it more of a bells and whistles thing to have?

MobileCom is Tiburon's AVL product. We use it in our ambulances, fire trucks and law enforcement vehicles. You can see the CAD data, maps, and other stuff. We have had significant and on-going issues with the product and so far I am somewhat underwhelmed.

In case anyone is interested, I'm running MobileCom 2.0 on Windows 7 with no apparent problems (with the OS) at this time.
