If one exist's, I need a class for Firefighting in Parking Decks. Mutiple vehicles, concrete spalling info., tactics, what to do and what not to do, any ideas?

well, i dont think there is a "class" you can go to on such a thing. now i am sure that your department can ask for assistance from other departments on what their protocal is for such emergencies and i am sure they would be glad to help.
actually about a month ago their was a fire here in a casino parking deck. a car on the 3rd level caught fire. now of course your fire engine will not be able to drive right up to the car. however, the parking deck did have a standpipe system. to what they did was take a battalion chiefs car and throw about 2 sections of hose and a nozel and drove up the the third floor, hooked up to the standpipe and knocked the fire down pretty quick. but by the time they were able to do this the fire had caused some damage to the cars parked next to it.
i have even "heard" of a department useing their platform truck to put out a fire on a parking deck, but that seems like overkill for a car fire.
if your parking deck does not have standpipes then your prolly just going to have to drag out a bunch of hose and put some pressure behind your pump.
just check around with other departments and see how they handle it. if you want, contact Biloxi Fire Department or the Vicksburg Fire Department both in mississippi. they both have casinos with parking decks and i know they have had to deal with this situation many times.

1) Hook a standpipe if available

2) Go to the fire floor and drop a rope down, then hand raise a line up.

3) Extend a hoseline off of the aerial platform.

4) Use the brush truck - if if it will fit in the ramp.

I am not aware of any classes for parking structures, there was an article in one of the trade publications recently about these types of structures.

number 1 and 2 i have done before. never used a aerial, but i have heard of that being done. and i never even thought about a brush truck. good points.

F150

The State College near in my district has 6-7 large parking structures. Several years ago, one of our BCs coded in one while running stairs. After that we got the college to buy a F150 for us to use responding to the parking structures. No light bar, just strobes down low. We carry a high rise pack with an extra 100 feet of 2.5 hose, a ton of absorbent (OK, not literally), a SCBA, a few extinguishers, etc. Of course their PD never tells us if it's in the parking structure so we never bring it.... but it's a good idea.
