  • Streamlight Survivior LED

Has anyone used the the Streamlight Survivor LED with the AA battery packs. I have a standard rechargable Survivor currently in use and I am fairly happy with it. I would like some field experience comments with the new LED model before I decide on buying one. Thanks for the input.

I have one and love it. There are 15 of us in my department that have one. It works very well. The PD just started getting stinger LEDs. They put both the stinger and the singer LED through a big test. The LED won hands down.

Im very impressed with them. We were on a job a few nights ago and 1 guy had the led, the other had the halogen. The led seems brighter, or more focused. Im sure its much more technical than that, but we're looking at selling off our halogen and switching to the rechargeable led's.

Im comparing them both on streamlights website now. The LED is listed with 65 Lumens, the halogen has 114. The led seems brighter, but im not quite sure what this difference is telling me.

If I understand the difference between the bulbs, the LED will produce more available at close distances, in more of a flood. The standard light will produce more available light at a distance, in a stream. Adjustable lenses are usuall available also on the older style.

I own the Survivor LED with the AA battery packs and I love it. I have had it in a few fires and it seems to cut the smoke better than the halogen light that is on my helmet. As far as battery life goes, I have yet to replace the batteries.
