Every service truck carries both a K-12 and a chainsaw, which includes our 3 small service trucks as well as our heavy resue, light rescue and primary tanker.
Typical residental fire we'll put 3-4 of each saw on scene. Commercial fires we may put as many as 5.
I gotta ask, given that you aren't doing very much vertical ventilation, what are you doing with all those saws? Are you running an arborist business?
There are a lot more uses for a saw than vertical ventilation.
In our case, we use our chainsaws far more for brush fire operations and tree removals from roofs and roads after storms that we would ever use them for ventilation. As a rule, the service trucks handle the latter assignments on their own.
Our K-12s are used quite often on truck accidents and truck cargo trailer fires on the interstate.
Hey la --- I was trying to defend you , I was trying to point out what a stretch it was trying to dis-credit you by saying if you dont vert vent you dont need a saw. So to add to your post --- dont forget --K saws - forcible entry, collaspe rescue , lots of times we use our chain saws to access mvcs, we have even used it to cutting cribbing , on salvage and overhaul have sawed drains in a floor , even sawed out a stubborn section of top plate that wouldnt give up. If mr barns thinks a saw is just limited to vert venting , he needs some time on the job.

That's what I figured you were doing.
I was trying to explain to him that for us our saws are primarily used for purposes other than ventilation.
