Paratech Airbag Question

Does anyone know what the recommended life expectancy of paratech air bags. Are there any NFPA or other safety standards in which air bags must meet.

Call Paratech. They will be glad to do an interior inspection of the bags.

I'm sure it will cost you a little something though!

We were told by Paratech that they have a 10 year shelf life. We have had 3 10 year old+ bags fail in the last year. Luckily all were during training and no injuries occurred.

Paratech Air Bag "Shelf Life"

Hello Everyone,

I am attaching the information that I received last year from Nigel Letherby, a Technical Coordinator for Paratech. Here is his comments:
Dear Sir,
Thank you for the Inquiry dated 1/8/05.
If your Maxiforce air lift bags are past their shelf life then they
should be taken out of service and replaced.
The attachment will explain about the shelf life of the air bags and
also they explain about care and maintenance of the bags.
There is not a standard in the USA at this time for annual testing of
air bags just to go by the manufactures recommendation, I can see in the
future that the US is going to follow Europe on annual testing of air
bags but that is a few years off.
