  • Stabilization

How would you go about stabilizing a car that is between two other cars? There is not enough room to operate between the vehicles, but there is a small gap, the middle car is the only one with entrappment.

In the middle how - Side By Side or End to End ??

I'm guessing you meant side to side b/c end to end leaves the whole sides of the car open for step chocks and/or cribbing.

For side to side placment w/ no access to the sides of the vehicle, I'd try to build cribbing stacks under a substantial cross member from the front/rear and/or use some short struts to the frame rails / unibody.
Another option would be to rig and sling it with a couple of wreckers on the front & back.

If I only have a clear view of the front and rear bumpers I would "short strut" the front and rear. 18 to 24 inch struts in a "A Frame" configuration. Blue tools or whatever other color that you may have would work if they can be shrunk down that far. When the big strut faze hit everyone was thinking long, they do work short also. You can find a picture of this on my website under "cars on their wheels" www.zmagrescue.com

Block wheels on both outside cars, 2 or 3 point crib if possible underneath middle car, step chock or large wedges between the gaps of middle car and two outside cars near fire wall and trunk bulkhead area to stop side to side motion. if you still find there is lots of movement you can marry the cars together, with a 10,000lb ratchet strap or chain and come-a-long to treat them as one unit. one across the front hood and one more if needed across the trunk from side to side. may sound like a lot of overkill but should make it pretty stable if you think you have to go that far.

You could try RES-Q-JACKS, They have a space saver model now that may fit under the car??

end to end, step blocks. Side by side, im having trouble visualizing but if there is no one in the other cars I'd consider moving one and making life easier.
