I was asked recently for a list of the hands-on training tasks that I have crews complete as they participate in my 16-hour University of Extrication vehicle rescue programs.
Here's my list. Feel free to add other skill evolutions that you do in your department so we can see what a 'Master List' looks like.
* Stabilization-<br />o 4-wheel level surface<br />o vehicle on edge, driver's side down<br />o rollover on roof
* Undercarriage opening, vehicle on edge-<br />o enter through floorboard and exit topside window
* Trunk access
* Engine compartment & battery access<br />o open at latch<br />o open at hinges<br />o access through hood<br />o access through fender/wheelwell
* Jacking & shoring<br />o vehicle on 4-wheels<br />o vehicle on edge<br />o vehicle rollover
* Battery location and electrical system shutdown
* Tempered glass removal<br />o 100% removal w/ no duplication of tools/vehicle<br /> ( no glass inside vehicle )
* Laminated glass removal<br />o vehicle on 4-wheels, single evolution<br />o vehicle of 4-wheels, combined w/ roof removal<br />o vehicle on edge<br />o vehicle on roof
* Door-<br />o door setup techniques<br />o force door at latch<br />o force door at hinge, <br />( simulating "loaded" side impact airbag in door)<br />o "vertical crush" evolution<br />o force top-side door while vehicle on edge<br />o deactivate Nader Safety Lock/Latch assembly<br />o widen door<br />o remove door
* Sidewall evolutions-<br />o seatbelt pre-tensioners identification<br />o total sidewall removal w/doors attached to B-pillar<br />o "double-wide" door opening on front door hinges<br />o 3-door conversion
* Roof evolutions-<br />o vehicle on 4-wheels, roof flip, flap, or flop<br />o vehicle on 4-wheels, total roof removal<br />o vehicle on edge, A-B-C cut<br />o vehicle on roof, total roof removal
* Pedal-<br />o move pedal<br />o remove pedal
