  • What rescue book would you suggest?

I am looking for a good resource to help me improve my skills and Ideas on rescues. I am a first year lieutenant and have the necessary skills to handle auto extrications. But am lacking in skills to do heavy rescue, confined space rescue, high angle rescue. Need something to get me started, so I can look for classes that will help also. If you know of any good resources, books, videos, etc. Please let me know. All responses are welcome. Thank you.

    Stay safe!

you'll find some good stuff here:

    http://www1.mosby.com/fcgi-bin/resul...x=7&submit.y=6

it will take you to a page that came up when I did a search on rescue at the Mosby publisher's site. I looked there because I have a trench rescue & confined space/rope rescue book from them. looks like they have some interesting video series as well. Ron Moore's book is listed there too.

    good luck

There are several that will help you out, but since there are ever change safety features and construction designs it is almost impossible to keep manuals current. Most have not been up dated to meet the demands of the new technology of the industry. But the basics are there for you to work from.

My personal favorite is Len Watson's (London, England) book done for Holmatro. I have used this for my own development of a student workbook and then deleted/added material that I felt important, missing, and new techniques that will be used in future courses. You'll have to read between the lines here and there since the terminology is slightly different, for an example windscreen for windshield, lorey is a truck, etc.

Perhaps you could contact your local dealer and aquire a copy! If having problems give Al Sergio a call at the head quarters he will put you in contact with the nearest rep.
