  • what type of gear do you dive?

Just curisous what kinda dive gear most of you guys use. I personally dive a Seaquest Raider BCD, Aqualung's titan micra reg with a low profile octo. I am also the black sheep for using Apollo Bio Fins, the split fin design isnt too popular around here since its new. I also Dive with the somewhat new UK Light Cannon 100 HID dive light, bit pricey but very nice.

What we use in Indian River County, FL

Our department is using the following:
    Viking Dry Suits
SeaQuest 1 piece wetsuits 3/2 mm
AGA Interspiro masks with both wireless and hardwire comms
    Sherwood regulators
Suunto Cobra Dive Computers (they're GREAT)
Various brands of fins, though I'm partial to the Aqua Lung "Blades" fins (they have my name engraved on them)

We are buying most of our equipment through Deep Six Dive & Watersports
    and
    Dive Rescue International

      What we use

Here in Fishers IN (Indpls suburb) we use:
Scubapro Superhawk BCD (I'm looking at other options)
Aga Golds with OTS Mk7 harwire (nothing better!)
      Sherwood Wisdom computers
      Kirby Morgan transfer blocks
      Viking, Gates, and Oceanic drysuits

I'd like to find a cleaner, trimmed down BCD and we're always going back and forth on the block vs. too many regs ideas.

Our dry suits are Gates PRO AM, (Hunter)
We have a mix of BCs Dacor, Sherwood, and Scubapro.
We also use the AGA with wireless buddy coms

Find a distributer for public safety equipment to help you get equiped. Your a public safety diver, not a recreational diver who happens to dive for the FD.

public safety diver and not a recreational diver for the fire dept huh. Try telling that to my chief. We have no budget for the dive team, its pretty much an equip yourself type deal. The only gear the dept has for issue is some 10 year old bc's and unbalanced us diver regs. We are only visible when he needs something.

I can somewhat relate to your situation 12TruckIrons. I have accumulated for myself: Gates ProAM 1050 dry/USD 6.5mm wet suit, USD BC, USD Artic regulator with micra octopus. 19cuft pony with USD partner regulator. Again, most from local sport shop that I've been with for the past many years. Trying to make the best & luckily don't have what some people would call "bad water" in my area.

I can relate strongly to what 12TruckIrons and davidhwebb are saying. The dive team at my department is only 3 members one of which is the cheif, and we cover a large area of water. Fortunately the services of the dive team are not needed very often. We have to supply all of our own gear and train on our own time.
