seems like it would make for a few less steps. Think they ment to say 2 5/16 inch ball thou... whatever, has anyone seen or used it yet?

Interesting. Someone will make some money. Sure people will buy it. I would not. Don't like the idea of rigging to something (say a trailer hitch) that gets used and abused harshly (like any trailer hitch I've owned does).

I thought the same thing too, but they show it being used on its facebook page on a rescue truck coming off the side. I would use it off of that for sure. you can even have a dedicated ball for it then. Thining I will ty and find it and get myself one.

It looks to me like a home grown idea. Honestly I'm not thrilled with the idea for three reasons.
1. I don't know what the pin holding the ball to the receiver is rated for.
2. If those balls on the hitch are the screw in type we're now putting a shear load on the threaded bolt holding the ball on. Again...whats the load rating.
3. If the balls are welded on has wear and tear, rust, and or lack of maintenance weakened the weld. Because of the anchor placement is definitely not bombproof and should be backed up. Sorry to sound so negative but the anchor in your system will make you or brake you. I think I'd anchor to a frame rail before using this. Just my opinion.

Mike, you make some great points!
It appears from everything that I have looked at with this on a ball hitch the way they have described it anyway that it is no worse then the AMKUS. As for the ball they are using a tri mold ball (assuming it is 2 5/16 like I think it maybe, that holds 10,000 lbs. The safety will slip at what 3,000 or around there. Seems to be a good warning still.

Dont get me wrong I dont think I would ever use this for high lines or things in that nature, but for going down the side of a hill along a road for a MVC or off the side of a cliff as a first in guy to get to a patient faster dont see any issue there. As for the pin, good question, would be willing to say it is more then 12,000 lbs. Anyone know of any tests on the pin for a hitch??

I just watched the vid for that AMKUS rope rescue system, that thing looks sweet too!!
