It is possible that this was the case before. But I decided to turn my attention to the pool the last time I was in a nursing home. I was told that they rarely use chemicals to clean swimming pools right now. They have gadgets like Dolphin Nautilus CC. Excess chlorine can negatively affect the respiratory function of the elderly + possible dermatitis on the skin. Pool cleaning robots do their job well, so the use of chlorine is limited to once a week. It also addresses the issue of the safety of storing chemicals in a potentially accessible location.

    Pool chemicals

I'm finding a lot of Muriatic acid at 70% (in 1gal jugs) being stored with (if not on) Calcium Hypochlorate tablets (in 5 gal pails) in pool pump houses during inspections. Anybody else ever come across this?? Make sure your prevention/inspection people know about it when hitting hotels, condo common areas, and senior living. Jason
