I agree with Bob, TTC is the best. We send all of our new guys their to get their tech rating. It's classroom and hands on, and on the last day your class will merge witht the incident command class and perform an operation on an actual derailment at the Facility. If you're real lucky, they'll include some explosions going off while you are trying to get the job done! One of the funnest days is if you go in winter and you are working on the rail tank car with about 15-20 holes in it being filled with water from a hydrant. All you are wearing is a Tyvec type suit and you are under the biggest hole trying to patch it with hundred of gallons of water raining over you.

The best in the business, is Transportation Technology Center (TTC) in Pueblo CO., their phone number is 719-584-0790.

    Hope this helps.

    Where can I specialize...

I am currently a Hazmat Tech and I would like to specialize in railcars and possibly tankers as well. We have rail lines running through the city and no specialist within our dept.

Can anyone let me know where they got that type of training and the length of the course, etc...?

    Much appreciated...
