  • Arnold Engineering Development Center Fire Department (AEDC)

Does anyone have any information on this department? I saw they are now with the Aecom contract and was interested in applying.

Ya I work crash rescue with boeing fire on the chinook program. Been there for about 5 years. Prior to that it was plant 42 which is an air force base but private contract fire department. I think arnold afb and plant 42 will have very similar fire departments.

So I applied and just waiting to see what happens. They might get a million applicants or only a hand full. I have never tested with this department so I have no idea what to expect. If they offered me a job I would consider accepting it if the pay and work schedule were favorable.

Sorry, forgot to mention I am not ex AF

This is what I found out.

          1. They are union firefighters with iaff local i14
          2. They run about 400 calls a year including some off base
          3. Staff one station with an engine, 3 crash trucks, medium rescue and an ambulance.
          4. Daily staffing is 11 + 1 chief
          5. Starting pay is high forty's and tops out in the low sixties
          6. They want to add 4 bodies to each shift
          7. Currently working with Aecom to put a contract together. It will probably be very similar to the current contract.
They work the 24/48 schedule with no kelly day.

I did not like it as much as the 48/72 schedule. But it was a chill place to work so it was all good
