How do I get Michigan to except my DOD Certs?

I got my dod certs from the fire academy in goodfellow, tx. I was wondering if anybody new how to get michigan to except them without the hassle of challenging all of the certs: FF1 and FF2, HAZ Awareness and Ops, ARFF, and Medical First Responder. Anything helps

Last I heard, you can't. MI has no reciprocity with anyone, including DoD. They want you to spend your $ here. You can challenge the test if you are affiliated with a local fire department but they charge almost the same as paying for the whole course. Good luck.

"Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II training and certifications are based on National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1001, 1997 Edition. Certification may be achieved in two ways.

· Student: Attend a complete training course and pass the written and practical skills examinations. See Fire Fighter Course Menu.

· Challenge: The Fire Fighters Training Council Act, PA 291 of 1966 as amended, allows members of organized fire departments to challenge the certification exam without first attending OFFT administered training. Cadets and explorer scouts are not allowed to challenge the examination. See Challenger Test Application, BCCFS-215."

same boat here - went to Goodfellow and am a Michigan native. Certs wont transfer there unless you just go DoD. I know Battle creek has jobs open from time to time as well as right now I think Warren as well. These are both DoD spots. You can look for them at usajobs
