Hey guys! I need some help and don't really know where to turn. I"m in NC and currently work as an HVAC Designer Drafter but I have long wanted a career change to Fire and Rescue! Although I don't have any experience, I am trying to get on with my local volunteer fire department so I can get close to the field. Can anyone give me any info on the best way to go about getting on with a department or if there are any sponsorship programs out there that departments participate in? Any help would put me closer to becoming a proud fellow firefighter!

EMT
Becoming an EMT would be a good start.

I concur with Captain Bob, EMT is a good place to start.
