Greetings I am Chaplain Mark O'Reilly - I am one of two Chaplain's for Sparta Fire Dept. I just recently signed on due to the current one being the township president and is VERY bust and most times can't be reached. I am also Chaplain for gods faithbook - http://godsfaithbook.com, and a duel country site (USA and Norway),http://www.rapesupport.webs.com. But I regress. I found your site trying to locate information on what a Fire station Chaplain does, knowing most of the job. But was looking to see if there was anything diffrent then what I was already doing.

You are a Godsend for firefighters. Last month we had a call where a little car met a big T-ruck. Big truck. The little cars roof was taken almost clean off. The woman broke both of her legs, her left arm, and had numerous fractures. The man in the truck only broke his arm and wrist and two ribs. The broken ribs however punctured his lung so he was in extreme pain. The paramedics in essence "popped" his chest (they essentially stabbed him) and the air whistled coming out of his chest. It helped him with his pain alot but thats a sound I'll never forget. The woman was screaming like an animal. We had to pull her out of her car. We didn't have time to cut the car apart because she was in such bad shape. When we pulled her out... I've never heard a scream like that in my entire life. When we come back we responders need someone to talk to. We need someone like a Champlain, Pastor, or Priest to talk to because when you experience something like that, it wears on your soul.Originally posted by chaplain-mark View Post
