I am interested in seniority point systems with regard to promotional practices. The system used at my agency is to award 1\2 a point for each year of seniority, starting at the eligibility date for the promotion, up to a total of 5 points. I am curious about various other systems, and would like to hear about it and any background you may have. I also have heard that there may be recent case law indicating that seniority points for promotional practice may be discriminatory. If you have any background regarding this issue, I would appreciate that info as well. Thanks.
