Let me say this, I was recently elected as the new Assistant Fire Chief so I'm still new and learning the whole administrative stuff, but recently we held a meeting with all of my other officers and we decided to bring back awards, medals and citation bars. All I'm asking is what your dept gives its members to recognize them, or what kind of citation bars you give out or if you can give me some pointers on what i should do to have a successful award program. My department they did away with them way before i was ever on my department. the reason why they did away with them was cause the mayor at the time didnt like the fact we were awarding our Firefighters with brass like that. his famous words were " if we like getting Bars and Medals then join the military " yeh he was a D**k!
