  • Chaplain Program start up

We are just starting a Chaplain program. Our volunteer program had an elected Chaplain for years and when the Volunteers broke up the position was never replaced. We are a small department of about 16 paid and 4 reserve members. We do have a Professional Firefighters Association, and they are also looking into the chaplain program. I have been serving in the capacity. Does anyone know of a location to get information / Q & A forum / SOG Ideas and so on. Thank you for any help.

Check out the Federation of Fire Chaplains

They also have a downloadable manual online for starting a fire chaplain progam.

Here is information from our organization, Firefighter Ministries, as well:

      http://www.theultimatefirehouse.com/chaplaincorps.htm

I live in Houston and do a lot of work with the Chaplains here in Texas and I am also the Chairman for the State Fire Marshal's LODD Task Force, Benefits Division. So alot of our training assists the Chaplain. We are looking at holding a weeklong Chaplaincy Training Class in November.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me.

      President, Firefighter Ministries

MY name is George koessler a ritierd chaplaine from Detroit fire dept and EMS. There is organisation called Fire CHAPLAINS OF America they can provide you with much-needed imformation the best book to read about what it's like to be a chaplain is I am rather if you need me.If you are in a smaller town you might find a local pastor that has, a CALLING to help you THOUGH BEEING a chaplain, is MUCH diferent than being a PASTOR,it requires diferent trading and perspective than most PASTOR'S are aware
