  • Non-LODD Redding, CT - David Sanford Memorial

My condolences to the Sanford family, the Connecticut Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums, the Danbury Fire Department, the Wilton Fire Department, the Wesport Fire Department, and the West Redding Fire Department, all of Connecticut. Retired Deputy Chief of Westport David Sanford, 62, a decorated U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and life-long dedicated firefighter, died Tuesday January 30, 2007. David passed away after a long illness. I have created a permanent memorial for Dave on FireFightingLinks.com as well as the CT Firefighters Pipes and Drums website. More news, information, and photos can be found at:

If there is any additional information or photos you would like added to this memorial, please don't hesitate to contact me.

This is a great loss to the fire service in CT. I met Dave when he was an instructor at Waterbury State Tech while I was in the Fire Technology program. I also dealt with him many times when he worked for Shipman's Fire Equipment. Definitely one of the most honest and straightforward guys I have ever met.
