BERLIN, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a crash involving four
motorcycles killed of an off-duty Springfield firefighter.
The crash yesterday near Berlin also injured the at least three
other people.
Sangamon County Coroner Susan Boone says 33-year-old Jacob
"Jake" Lessen of Sherman was pronounced dead at the scene around
4:40 p-m.
Police say 34-year-old Krista Lessen was a passenger on her
husband's motorcycle. The sheriff's office says she's in critical
condition at Memorial Medical Center.
Police say Lessen was heading east on Old Jacksonville Road when
he lost control and entered the westbound lane in front of three
motorcycles.
A father and two sons were on the other bikes.
Forty-four-year-old Craig Sim of Springfield is in fair condition
and 19-year-old Nicholas Sim was treated and released.
Springfield Mayor Tim Davlin has ordered all city flags lowered
to half-staff.
