Mr. Brewer was hired by the St. Louis Fire Department on March 11, 1962. He was promoted to captain on December 31, 1978 and to Battalion Chief on June 15, 1986. He was a member of the St. Louis Association of Retired Professional Fire Fighters and Local 73 District Representative from 1963-1967 and 2nd Vice President from 1977-1986. On March 1, 1977 he received a bachelor degree in Fire Science from Central Missouri State University, then his Master of Arts Public Administration from Webster University on March 10, 1983. Founding member and 1st President of the Missouri Association of Public Employees Retirement System from 1988-1990. Served the Firemen's Retirement System on the board of trustee's from 1969-1974, then became chairman in September of 1974, serving until June 1990, then executive secretary until December of 2000. Mr. Brewer served his country in the United States Marine Corp. and was a member of American Legion Post 89. Long time member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church. Recipient of the the St. Florian Society Award in 2002 and member of the Chief Officer's 800 Club. Proud member of the Sexy Six Club
