MILWAUKEE (AP) - A man who died in a recent six-vehicle accident
on Interstate 94 will be honored by fellow firefighters after his
    funeral Saturday.
Members of the Abrams Volunteer Fire Department plan to take the
body of Robert Vandenlangenberg, 31, on his last ride in a
    firetruck after his funeral.
Vandenlangenberg, of Sussex, died Wednesday after a dump truck,
two semitrailer trucks and three other vehicles crashed in
    Brookfield,
Also killed was Gary Burfield, 52, of Downers Grove, Ill.
Several other people were treated at the scene.
Vandenlangenberg was a volunteer firefighter for the Abrams
department for 1½ years before recently moving to Sussex, where he
    joined its fire department.
"We were looking forward to working with him," said Sussex
    Fire Chief Colin Curtis.
Members of the Abrams department plan to park firetrucks outside
the funeral home Saturday night and leave the vehicles' lights on
in a memorial to the firefighter, said his mother, Carolyn
Vandenlangenberg. After the funeral, they will put his casket into
a firetruck and give him his last ride through Oconto Falls.
"He was so dedicated to it. He's going to be terribly,
    terribly, terribly missed," she said.
Burfield's son, Jeff Burfield, said his father was also
dedicated to his work and had been driving trucks for 25 years.
"He worked hard every day. Never missed work. Never called in.
Loved his kids. Spent time with his kids," he said.
Funeral services for Gary Burfield were pending Thursday at
Delehanty Funeral Home in Rockford, Ill.
Robert Vandenlangenberg's funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday
at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. (June 7th)
