On July 21, career firefighter Samuel Lee Green, 50, of the Shelby County Fire Department in Memphis, Tennessee, suffered a heart attack while on duty at the station.
Green, a firefighter with Shelby County for 23 years, was found collapsed outside the firehouse after having stepped outside for a minute following dinner. According Division Chief Clarence Cash Jr., the other firefighters on duty missed Green when he failed to come inside and went to check on him.
Cash said they tried to revive Green at the station before he was transferred to Methodist Hospital-North in Memphis, where he died around 9 pm.
My sympathies go out to the family and friends of our dear brother. May he rest in everlasting peace!
