  • Heart Rate monitors

Interested in purchasing one, but do not know much about them.
Chest strap or just a watch type?
    Cheap or expensive?
Wal Mart, Academy Sports, or online?
I have seen them priced from $40 and up.

    Get a Polar

Polar is by far my favorite brand. Go to www.polarusa.com and look around. Fit the unit to your needs and meet your goals. Plan on spending around $100. They are worth every penny when they last 10 plus years at 3 or 4 workouts a week. I wear the f-6, you can score one on e-bay for around $90.

Yes, I would go with the polar brand probably the base model. The signal sent from the transmitter is picked-up by most commercial cardio equipment.

            Polar heart rate monitors

You really do get what you pay for with heard rate monitors. Going cheap will probably leave you frustrated, and returning your purchase, and time is money! In my experience, there is no substitute for the Polar top of the line model.

One thing about a Polar unit is that many of the aerobic fitness equipment manufactures make there products compatible with Polar transmiters.
