  • I've got 7 STUBBORN pounds!

Over the course of this past year I transferred to a proactive, aggressive, and physically fit fire department. My previous dept. could care less about physical fitness (partly because 90% had already retired from another dept.). So needless to say I let my fitness level drop. No one's fault but my own. However since moving to the dept. I'm on now, I've shed about 50 lbs and picked my fitness level up tremendously! My goal weight is 200 and I'm currently tipping the scales at 207. It seems no matter what I do I cannot drop those last 7 lbs. I've reduced my calorie intake to what I feel is near unhealthy and doubled my time in the gym. I'm open to any and all ideas?

You have hit the "plateau" phase...
Keep doing what you're doing, once your metabolism readjusts, the last 7 will come off...

Just a few ideas to throw out there.

Make sure you haven't lowered your calorie intake too low. Your body will actually start storing fat if it's too low.

Also maybe try mixing up your gym routine if you don't already. Your muscles might have acclimated to your exercises.

        Stay with it. Good luck!

My workout consists of weight training and cardio. Days that I'm on shift I usually do a pretty heavy cardio workout in my gear then that afternoon hit the weights followed with some firefighting oriented type exercises in my gear. Actually this morning I busted through my plateau. Thanks for all the help.
